The walls at Ground Control are being taken over…

Local artists are invited to submit their work to take up space at Ground Control for a full month-long showcase.

Painters, illustrators, photographers, collage artists and more are welcome to submit up to 6 16x24 pieces (more or less depending on size of work) to be featured on the walls of Ground Control from April 15-May 20th. Giving each artist a First Friday showing, along with daily views from customers.

Artists are able to sell their pieces, if they wish. We just ask that you leave your venmo/cash app/Apple Pay information so that the money goes directly to you.

There is no cost, we just ask that each artist chosen post about their feature on social media once per week during the duration of the invasion.

Our only rules: No hate speech and no glorified violence.

Get ready for a Honky Tonk HoDown Karaoke Dance Party on April 18th, starting at 8pm.

Costumes highly encouraged. As is: Shaniah, The Chicks, and any and all Dolly Parton (we’ll disregard the time constraints for our Queen).

Science on Tap: Wild Neighbors w/ Johnna Eilers

Come join Wenatchee River Institute for Science On Tap! This casual, free event is a great opportunity to gather, socialize, and learn about an exciting science topic from a member of our community. No prior science knowledge necessary! Speakers will give a talk on their latest research or a science topic they are passionate about, with some time afterwards for discussion or Q&A. Presentations start at 7pm – arrive early to grab a drink and get a seat!

Presentation: Wild Neighbors: Exploring the Wildlife of Chelan and Douglas Counties with a Local Wildlife Biologist

Description: Discover the incredible wildlife of Chelan and Douglas Counties with a local WDFW wildlife biologist, Johnna Eilers, as she presents on the deer, bighorn sheep, birds, and bats that call this area home. Learn about monitoring methods and field projects, including helicopter surveys, GPS tracking, bird nest peeper cameras, and bat acoustic monitoring. Johnna will also share the results from recent projects, wildlife habitat uses, and the conservation challenges these species face. This presentation provides a unique opportunity to understand how science is guiding efforts to conserve and manage our local wildlife.

Presenter: Johnna is the Assistant District Wildlife Biologist for Chelan and Douglas counties with the Washington Department of Fish and Wildlife. In this role, she plays a key part in monitoring and managing local wildlife populations, ranging from mule deer and bighorn sheep, to birds, bats, small mammals, and even bumblebees. She moved to Wenatchee about 2.5 years ago and is loving the outdoor playground that surrounds us.

Presentation: More than just a drink: The art and science of hard cider

Description: Hard cider production goes beyond fermentation—every decision, from apple variety to yeast choice and specialized fermentation techniques, shapes the flavor and character of the final product. Join us for an engaging exploration of cider history, the diverse world of apple varietals, the fermentation process, and how these elements come together to create distinct cider profiles. Leave this session inspired to refine your cider palate and seek out new varieties and styles to expand your tasting experience.

Presenter: Marcy has deep roots in Washington’s agriculture and hard cider industries, with a particular focus on the sustainability of hard cider production for her Master’s in Agriculture. Her extensive experience spans the entire cider industry, from apple and cider production to sales and guiding customers in discovering their ideal cider. Currently, Marcy works to connect landowners and farmers across Chelan County with free technical and financial assistance, helping them thrive in their agricultural endeavors.

Pop Punk Emo Night

Come party like it’s 2005! Wear your pop-punk best, and get ready to mosh, dance, and scream (er…sing) at the top of your lungs.

This all day event starts at 3pm with a Flash Event w/ Elena Pauli Tattoo. First come, first served. $50 cash only flash. Black and grey + limited color available.

Then at 8pm we bring back the glory of Emo Night with a karaoke/dance party featuring all of your favorite early aughts pop-punk/emo/screamo faves. There will be a Myspace inspired photo-op, so practice those poses.
